…Partnering to Change Lives

Why Partner with Critters For The Cure (CFTC):

CFTC was created in June of 2005 after Clancy Kress (CFTC founder)’s best friend, Ali’s, breast cancer progressed.  Ali, a survivor of 34 years, lost her battle in 2009. Throughout her last decade of life, her faithful companion, a standard poodle Molly, was always by her side. Clancy and Ali came to realize that their pets played a much larger role in survivorship than they could ever imagine. Thus, the name:  Critters For The Cure.

Ali was fortunate: she had insurance and a robust support system.  But through her journey, she became painfully aware of the number   of women who lack these necessities.  CFTC was established to meet some of the impactful and diverse needs, and has been connecting women to community services and providing emergency funds since their inception.

Over fifty percent (50%) of every dollar donated to CFTC goes directly to providing financial assistance to women who are either uninsured or underinsured. In addition, over 1,000 coaching hours are spent each year working directly with cancer navigators and their patients to help provide solutions during cancer treatment and beyond. Funds raised benefit women who are going through breast and other gynecological related cancers. Referrals are made by the community cancer care navigators or directly by women in need.

CFTC is the only women’s cancer 501(c)(3) organization in our nation’s capital and one of only a few organizations that provide immediate emergency funds when women have nowhere else to turn. CFTF minimizes obstacles to optimal care and quality of life by providing assistance for transportation to treatment, absorbing medical and RX co-pays, connecting women to wigs and prosthetics, helping with rent and groceries, utilities, complementary therapies, etc.

Although financial support is paramount, CFTC also provides support  to women facing end of life issues. Following treatment, CFTC also helps women connect to their optimal future by updating resumes, coaching on seeking job opportunities and preparing for interviews.  While CFTC would love to accommodate the requests of everyone, there simply aren’t enough funds to meet the demands, especially in a difficult economy. Your partnership will help us extend our reach to support many more women in need here in our own community.

Our Mission:

Critters For The Cure (CFTC) is the only 501(c)(3) in our nation’s capitol/region that supports the needs of women battling breast and gynecological cancer. CFTC improves the experience and quality of  life of these women by empowering them to survive and thrive by providing the resources as each woman defines her needs (from information, life skills, and emergency funds) to bridge life before cancer to life beyond cancer. We also promote the healing relationship between patients and their pets when one is faced with the life altering disease, cancer.

Benefits of partnering with CFTC:

Our partnership together will benefit those women who are unable     to manage the extraordinary costs associated with battling cancer.     In addition, this partnership will demonstrate to your employees and stakeholders that you support and embrace the importance of giving back to grassroots organizations within your community.
